PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Gehrtz Construction Services provided preconstruction services for the construction management of the North Dakota State Fair Grandstands and provided owner representative services during the construction of the building.

The project consisted of a fully covered 7,200 seat grandstand. The grandstand amenities and enhanced concourse support crowds of more than 15,000 as the facility is often used for concerts with a large standing crowd.

Prior to the flood of 2011, GCS provided owner representative services while assisting with scheduling, coordination, and supervision of the construction of levees to protect the existing $70 million State Fair Center and $15 million grandstand. Work included pre-flood planning and assessments of flood mitigation options for several key structures.

During the post-flood recovery, Gehrtz Construction Services worked with the North Dakota Disaster Emergency Services Department, North Dakota Procurement Office, North Dakota State Fair Association, and FEMA in preliminary meetings and discussions regarding the cleanup and reconstruction of the damaged fairgrounds. The meetings established procedures and scope of work descriptions for projects throughout the grounds to assist the North Dakota State Fair Association with cleanup and recovery services.

Gehrtz Construction Services provided construction management services during the construction phase and administrative assistance in assembling supporting documentation required by FEMA for the clean-up and recovery costs involved in restoring the fairgrounds to pre-flood conditions.
