PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This new addition designed to function independently from the existing Horizon Middle School will provide space for up to 1,200 fifth and sixth grade students, teachers, and staff utilizing 201,000 square feet.

The addition is designed to support a 21st Century learning and teaching environment with eight learning communities. Each community includes six learning studios, lab space, maker studio, large and small group learning studios, teacher planning, resource storage, locker bay, and support spaces.  Shared learning areas including media center, technology studios, and learner support services are centrally located between the main 2-story clusters of learning communities.

The design includes three dedicated elementary music studios, band room, orchestra room, and two dedicated art studios. The facility also includes two additional full-sized gyms and student commons/cafeteria which seats up to 400.

A new 750 seat multi-purpose auditorium is designed to serve the entire 5th through 8th grade student population at Horizon Campus.  The auditorium includes a 4,000 SF stage designed to accommodate up to 120 musicians for a performance, control room, scene shop, fine arts storage, and a tech level with catwalks that is safely accessible for student participation.
